LOS ANGELES: Sean Boyle has been elevated to VP of development at Discovery Channel, where he is taking on an expanded position.

Boyle will keep working out of Los Angeles under Nancy Daniels, the executive VP of programming and production at Discovery Channel. He will continue to supervise the development of the network’s new prime-time nonfiction shows and specials. During his time at Discovery, Boyle is credited with greenlighting such hits as Fast N’ Loud and Street Outlaws, and developing ideas internally for Zombie Apocalypse and How Booze Built America.

Before joining the company in 2011, Boyle was a senior director for VH1’s reality programming department. He also served as a director of reality and scripted programming at Lifetime Network.

"Sean has been an incredible asset to  Discovery since day one," noted Daniels. "Sean has been behind some of the most successful new shows that we have developed and has a  proven track record. I’m thrilled to continue working with him in a larger capacity."
