Outpost Entertainment Names Development VP

NEW YORK: Outpost Entertainment has hired Rebecca Halpern as VP of development, marking the company's first key creative appointment since its launch in late 2013.

Halpern has had projects in development at Discovery and Animal Planet, and has served as showrunner and producer for true crime, arts and culture, lifestyle and news programming for such networks as A&E, HISTORY, ID, CNBC, Oxygen, TVOne, CBS Sports, FOX News Channel and CNN. Her credits include Snapped (Oxygen), American Greed (CNBC), After the First 48 (A&E), FBI: Criminal Pursuit (ID) and Gangland (HISTORY). She has also partnered on her original ideas with such prodcos as 44 Blue, Left/Right, Scott Free, Authentic, Asylum and Stone & Company.

Outpost has secured several series over the last year and a half, including Engineering Disasters and Forged in Fire for HISTORY, Brainstormers for The Weather Channel and Icons for PBS, with key development set up at Lifetime, HGTV, Food Network, HLN, CNBC and ABC Family, among others. The full-service entertainment and production company was formed in partnership with Leftfield Entertainment. It is based in Los Angeles.
