Oscars Telecast Sees Ratings Decline

NEW YORK: Ratings for ABC's broadcast of the 87th Academy Awards were down 12 percent from last year.

In all, the awards pulled in 36.6 million viewers on Sunday night , 6.4 million fewer viewers from last year’s ten-year high.

From 8:30 p.m. to 12 a.m., the 2015 Oscars telecast averaged a 25.0 Household rating, 38 share in overnight Metered Markets. This is a double-digit drop from the 27.9/41 the show received in 2014. With adults 18 to 49, the 2015 awards delivered a 14.2/36 rating in Nielsen's Local People Meter Markets.

The figures put last night's show on par with the 2011 Academy Awards. It marks the third worst the awards ceremony has done in ratings since 2005.
