Orange Is the New Black, Stranger Things Casts Score SAG Awards

LOS ANGELES: The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were presented last night, with the casts of Orange Is the New Black and Stranger Things winning in the ensemble categories for comedy and drama, respectively.

The Crown swept the acting categories for drama, with individual wins going to Claire Foy and John Lithgow. In comedy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for Veep, while William H. Macy was recognized for his work in Shameless.

Sarah Paulson continued her winning streak for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, scoring the Actor statuette in the TV movie/miniseries arena. Bryan Cranston won for male actor in that category for his turn as Lyndon B. Johnson in All the Way.

Game of Thrones scored a win for stunt ensemble in a comedy or drama series. The night also saw Lily Tomlin take home the SAG lifetime achievement award, presented by her 9 to 5 co-star Dolly Parton.

In the motion picture arena, the cast of Hidden Figures won the night’s big award for best ensemble. Individual nods went to Emma Stone for La La Land and Denzel Washington for Fences. The awards for supporting roles were presented to Viola Davis for Fences and Mahershala Ali for Moonlight.

Hacksaw Ridge was recognized for best stunt ensemble in a motion picture.
