LOS ANGELES: Andrew Plotkin, formerly the senior VP of original programming at Syfy, has joined New Regency in the role of executive VP of television.

Plotkin will be responsible for developing programming and overseeing TV production at New Regency. He will report to Brad Weston, the company’s president and CEO. Plotkin is part of a team that is building upon New Regency’s return to television, working to extend the studio’s original TV production, co-finance and domestic and international distribution opportunities. Plotkin will work to extend Regency’s current projects, including the studio’s first-look agreement with Israel’s ADD. He will also lead original programming, including the HBO drama Beat the Reaper.

“We set out to grow our television business in much the same way that we have built our film business—through a talent-driven and hands-on approach that allows Regency to be a part of projects and partnerships that we believe in,” said Weston. “Andrew brings immense talent and unparalleled enthusiasm to Regency. We could not be more thrilled to have him on our team as we re-energize our television division.”
