LOS ANGELES: FOX has greenlit a new animated comedy, Murder Police, from Family Guy‘s David A. Goodman and Jason Ruiz, who was discovered through the Fox Inkubation program.

The series, about an inept detective and his motley crew of colleagues, is slated for the 2013-14 season. Ruiz also voices the lead character, Manual Sanchez. He is supported on the voice cast by Will Sasso (The Three Stooges), Chi McBride (Hawthorne), Horatio Sanz (Saturday Night Live), Penny Marshall (Laverne & Shirley), Peter Atencio (Key and Peele) and Justina Machado (Private Practice).

The series is produced at Bento Box Animation for Twentieth Century Fox Television.

“David and Jason came to us with a really fresh take on law enforcement that we’ve never seen before,” said Kevin Reilly, the chairman of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company. “With Murder Police, these guys are taking a staple genre of television—the cop show—and turning it on its head by pushing the warped comedic boundaries that only animation can offer. It’s the kind of show our Animation Domination fans will absolutely love, and I can’t wait to introduce it next season.”
