NBCUniversal has hired Laura Lee as executive VP of content, strategy and operations for its digital enterprises division, a newly created position that is effective June 19.

Lee will lead the company’s digital strategy while increasing the consumption, audience engagement and monetization of NBCU’s content on existing and emerging platforms. She is also expected to nurture existing partnerships with Snap, BuzzFeed and Vox. She will work out of New York under Maggie Suniewick, the president of NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises.

Previously, Lee served as the president and chief digital officer of Margaritaville Media. She has also worked for YouTube and held a variety of business development, production and development posts at MTV, VH1, Spike TV and Time Warner. She started her career as a media investment banker at J.P. Morgan.

“Laura’s deep experience in the digital space will be a great asset as we continue to create new monetization and premium content opportunities across NBCUniversal and expand our partnerships with new media and technology companies,” said Suniewick.
