Late next month, NBC is due to debut The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special, a family-friendly animated production based on an SNL skit and featuring the voices of Tom Hanks and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones).

The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special is inspired by the “Haunted Elevator” sketch from a 2016 episode of Saturday Night Live. Hanks will star as the voice of the titular character who, along with his skeleton sidekicks, shows a brother and sister the true meaning of Halloween. The half-hour production will premiere on October 28 at 11:30 p.m.

The special, animated by Bento Box Entertainment, is made by Broadway Video in association with SNL Studios. Sketch creators Mikey Day, Streeter Seidell and Bobby Moynihan are writing and producing, and also have voiceover roles. Lorne Michaels is serving as executive producer.

“It’s scary how quickly the original SNL sketch caught on, and we’re thrilled that Tom Hanks is back to keep the fun going,” said George Cheeks, the president of business operations and late-night programming for NBC Entertainment and Universal Television.
