NBC Begins Series Orders

UNIVERSAL CITY: Five new series have already been announced for NBC’s 2013-14 schedule, including About a Boy, based on the Nick Hornby novel and 2002 movie of the same name.

Minnie Driver is attached to star in About a Boy, alongside David Walton. Also getting an order are the comedies Sean Saves the World, led by Sean Hayes, and The Family Guide, from D.J. Nash.

The network is also going for a new J.J. Abrams project, Believe. Another drama pickup is Crisis, which features The X-Files star Gillian Anderson.

A number of series landed renewals, including Grimm, Law & Order: SVU, Parenthood, Chicago Fire and Revolution.
