NATPE PitchCon Set for June

LOS ANGELES: NATPE PitchCon returns to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on June 7 and 8, during which time Oxygen’s The Glee Project will be honored with this year’s Innovator Award.

The event, previously known as LATV Fest and now in its second year under the PitchCon banner, will deliver speakers, hands-on sessions, workshops and masterclasses. The two-day event will cover topics such as multiplatform pitching, pitch prep, developing ideas and succeeding as an independent producer.

The Innovator Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in unscripted programming, will be presented to The Glee Project.

Jason Klarman, the president of Oxygen Media;

Michael Davies and Shauna Minoprio, executive producers from Embassy Row;

Robert Ulrich, casting director and on-air mentor; and Zach Woodlee, choreographer and on-air mentor, will accept the award at a special luncheon and panel on June 8.

The Glee Project represents a truly unique and forward-thinking relationship between the worlds of unscripted and scripted programming and has delivered an exciting twist on talent discovery,” said Rick Feldman, NATPE’s president and CEO. “NATPE is proud to honor this show and everyone associated with its early successes and bright future.”

Klarman added: “Ryan Murphy has created a true pop culture phenomenon with Glee and The Glee Project. Oxygen is proud to be in business with him as the exclusive cable home for both series.”
