M. Night Shyamalan Developing Pilot for Syfy

NEW YORK: Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan and showrunner/executive producer Marti Noxon are working on a scripted pilot project, entitled Proof, for Syfy, which has also greenlit a pilot based on John Christopher’s novel The Lotus Cave.

Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable) and Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mad Men) will co-write the project and serve as executive producers. Shyamalan is also slated to direct the pilot, which Universal Cable Productions will produce. The story in Proof follows the son of a billionaire tech genius who offers a large reward for anyone who can find proof of life after death, following a tragic accident in which he looses his parents.

Syfy also greenlit Reunion Pictures’ new pilot High Moon, adapted from John Christopher’s best-selling novel The Lotus Cave. The Halmi Company will distribute the project worldwide outside of Canada. Robert Halmi Sr. will executive produce, along with Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies), Jim Danger Gray (Pushing Daisies) and Reunion Pictures’ Matthew O’Connor, Lisa Richardson and Tom Rowe. High Moon is set in a future where the countries of Earth have established colonies to mine the moon’s resources. Chaos erupts when a new life form is discovered.
