Lionsgate Promotes Pair of Business Affairs Execs

SANTA MONICA: Matthew Kearns and Dan Hadl have each been elevated to executive VP of business affairs for Lionsgate.

In their new roles, Kearns and Hadl will both continue to work under Sandra Stern, Lionsgate Television Group’s president. They will collaborate with Stern on negotiating new talent relationships, creating new business models and innovating financing strategies.

Kearns oversees business affairs for the recent hit Greenleaf, the dramedy Graves and the drama The Royals, as well as the upcoming special event miniseries American Lion. Hadl recently managed negotiations for Lionsgate’s TV and movie franchise The Kingkiller Chronicle. He also supervises business affairs for Orange Is the New Black, Nashville, Casual and the upcoming show Dear White People, and works with Lionsgate’s OTT services.

Kearns, who has been with Lionsgate for more than a decade, previously served as VP of business affairs for The WB. Since joining the company in 2007, Hadl has been upped from VP to senior VP of television business affairs.

“Matthew and Dan are world-class dealmakers who have helped position Lionsgate Television at the forefront of innovation in creating new business models for a fast-changing environment,” said Stern. “They are both skilled negotiators with superb talent relationships and a deep understanding of the television landscape. As our television operations continue to scale and diversify, they will be key executives in continuing to move our business forward.”
