Lifetime Airing Film About Saved by the Bell Stars

TORONTO: Lifetime is set to take a behind-the-scenes look at one of the ’90s most popular Saturday morning series in The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story.

The film is currently shooting in Vancouver, with a premiere date scheduled for Labor Day, September 1, at 9 p.m. The movie will delve into the experiences of the six unknown young actors who, after starring in the hit Saved by the Bell, were thrust into the Hollywood spotlight. The film will also expose the challenges of growing up under public scrutiny while trying to maintain a clean image.

Robin Lippin, the original series’ casting director, has cast the film’s stars. Dylan Everett (Degrassi: The Next Generation) is set to star as Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who played the role of the mischievous ringleader Zack Morris in the original. Other parts include Sam Kindseth (Shameless) as Dustin Diamond, known for his role as the geeky Screech; Julian Works (Paranormal Activity) as Mario Lopez, who played the jock A.C. Slater; Alyssa Lynch (The High Jumping Witch) as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, called America's sweetheart for her role as Kelly Kapowski; Tiera Skovbye (Supernatural) taking on the role of Elizabeth Berkley and her character Jessie Spano; and Taylor Russell McKenzie (Blink) as Lark Voorhies and her onscreen persona Lisa Turtle.

Front Street Pictures and Ringaling Productions are making the movie for the network. Harvey Kahn and Stephen Bulka are exec producing.
