CULVER CITY: The producer, actor and writer Kevin Smith is looking to ramp up the digital ventures of his SeeSMod YouTube channel through a new partnership with Maker Studios.

Through the newly established partnership, Maker Studios will be providing strategic guidance to help grow and organize SeeSMod along with the potential for Smith to collaborate with talent across Maker’s network, which houses more than 5,000 YouTube channels. There is a host of new programming slated for the SeesMod channel, along with returning formats. Why Bry? is a weekly chat show with Bryan Johnson of AMC’s Comic Book Men. ComicHead! is a weekly comic book review series featuring Brian Faraldo. Walt Flanagan Draws!, also a weekly program, features DC Comics illustrator Walt Flanagan as he talks about his favorite characters and how he draws them. Sloppy Seconds with Kevin Smith is a weekly v-log series with Smith himself.

"I’m an old movie-maker, unfamiliar with the newfangled ways of the YouTube generation,” said Smith. “Getting in bed with Maker allows me and SModCo to learn how the cool kids do things. I look forward to their patience as they teach a fat Padawan how to be a Jedi at YouTube the Maker way, and I plan to shoe-horn myself into all their other fine programs."

“Kevin is a rare talent that has consistently had his finger on the pulse of rogue entertainment for many years. His ability to connect with fans across platforms makes him a great match for Maker,” added Danny Zappin, co-founder and CEO of Maker Studios. “We’re thrilled to partner with such an incredible visionary and look forward to the collaborative process of working together.”
