ITV Studios America has acquired the television rights for three of Roselle Lim’s novels as part of a development deal with Laurie Zaks (Castle, The Fix) and her newly established Rosewood Television.

Lim, a Canadian author of Filipino-Chinese heritage, explores the Chinese-American experience in her novels through romance, complex family relationships and journeys of self-discovery. ITV Studios America will adapt her books Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck and Fortune, Vanessa Yu’s Magical Paris Tea Shop and Sophie Go’s Lonely Hearts Club for TV.

The books were optioned through a development deal with Zaks and her new company, which she formed after leaving her seven-year position running television for Disney-based Mandeville Films.

Lim and Zaks will executive produce the book adaptations.

“Roselle”s books are a complete delight for the heart and for the senses,” said Lucienne Papon, executive VP of current affairs at ITV Studios America. “They are full of romance, magic, humor and human connection—the perfect antidote for these crazy times. We can’t wait to bring these characters to life.”

“I’m so honored and excited to work with Laurie and ITV Studios America,” Lim said. “I can’t wait to see the worlds of Vanessa, Natalie and Sophie on the screen.”
