IFC Renews Portlandia & Reveals New Additions

NEW YORK: IFC has unveiled its 2012-13 programming slate, which includes a third season of the original comedy Portlandia alongside new series.

Portlandia’s third season will premiere in January 2013. Starring Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live) and musician Carrie Brownstein, the series is a comedy with sketches that center on the quirkiness of life in Portland.

In addition, the new series Comedy Bang! Bang! and Bunk will premiere this June, while the new animated series Out There will run in January 2013. Season two of the facial-hair competition Whisker Wars and a new installment of R. Kelly’s urban operetta Trapped in the Closet are set to premiere later this year. Also on IFC’s slate is the new scripted comedy Maron (working title), premiering in the third quarter of 2013.
