IFC Greenlights Pair of Original Comedies

NEW YORK: Two new scripted series are set to join the original programming slate of IFC, Comedy Bang! Bang! and Bunk.

Comedy Bang! Bang! is a sketch variety show featuring celebrity guests, comedy sketches and animation. Scott Aukerman is attached as host. It is based on his podcast of the same name. Bunk (working title) is a game-show parody featuring a rotating lineup of comedian contestants performing comedy challenges, created by Ethan Berlin and Eric Bryant. It will be hosted by Kurt Braunohler. IFC has ordered ten half-hour episodes of each to premiere back to back in June 2012 as a one-hour original comedy block.

“With popular shows like Portlandia and Todd Margaret currently on our air and now the addition of Comedy Bang! Bang! and Bunk, IFC is quickly becoming known as a destination for top comedic talent,” said Debbie DeMontreux, IFC’s senior VP of original programming. “These shows fit perfectly with IFC’s mission to create fresh, original, off-kilter comedies, and we’re thrilled to add them to our 2012 lineup.”
