Ice Cube Inks Deal with 20th Century Fox TV & Fox 21

LOS ANGELES: Ice Cube’s Cube Vision has entered into a first-look arrangement with 20th Century Fox TV and Fox 21 Television Studios.

Under the two-year pact, Cube has teamed up with his longtime manager Jeff Kwatinez to run Cube Vision’s TV production. Together, they will serve as executive producers on projects they develop. The studio would then have the exclusive first right to produce those projects. Genres include comedy, reality, drama, animation and specials across network and cable.

Cube Vision’s Hip Hop Squares is set to premiere on VH1 in spring 2017.

“It’s hard to think of a more multidimensional artist than Ice Cube, whose influence on the culture and enormous talent is virtually unrivaled,” commented Fox Television Group Chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman. “He’s a performer, a songwriter, a recording artist, an actor and a filmmaker, and his work speaks to a broad, multigenerational audience. We’ve been dying to be in business with him for years, and we think the combination of Cube and his incredibly talented producing partner Jeff Kwatinetz is going to result in some very compelling television.”

Ice Cube said: “I’m very happy and excited to work with the talented and creative people at Fox. Their ability to bring groundbreaking television of every type through both cable and broadcast makes them the perfect partner for Cube Vision. We are happy to be part of the family.”

Kwatinetz added: “Dana, Gary and the entire Fox television team are true visionaries. At the heart of their success is a track record identifying and partnering with talent—from empowering showrunners and producers to supporting storytellers. Ice Cube is such talent. His creative prowess spanning writing, music, producing and a rich understanding of story coupled with Fox’s commitment to this partnership will surely bring meaningful and exciting programming to television. We cannot wait to get started.”
