Hulu to Co-Produce New Season of The Thick of It

LOS ANGELES: In its first international co-production, Hulu is working with the BBC on the upcoming fourth season of Armando Iannucci’s acclaimed British comedy The Thick of It, while also securing the streaming rights to the first three seasons.

Hulu and Hulu Plus will launch the first three seasons on July 29, as well as two specials. The show originally aired on BBC Four and BBC America. Hulu will then exclusively premiere season four in the U.S., day and date with the U.K. broadcast. BBC America will air season four next year. The deal was secured by BBC Worldwide Americas.

"I very quickly became obsessed with this show, and it is exactly the kind of show Hulu viewers will love," said Andy Forssell, the senior VP of content at Hulu. "We’re really excited to give U.S. audiences a chance to catch up with all previous episodes, and as series co-producers for season four, we are proud to make full seasons of this distinctive and smart show available exclusively to Hulu viewers."

Matt Forde, BBC Worldwide Americas’ executive VP of sales and co-productions, added, "We are excited to have partnered with Hulu for the co-production of the fourth season of The Thick of It and to make the entire show available to their users. With the hilarious satirical story lines, the series is ideal for Hulu’s audience, which enjoys cutting-edge comedy television."
