Hulu & Showtime Partner in Streaming Deal

NEW YORK: Starting next month, Hulu subscribers will have the ability to add Showtime's stand-alone service to their package for an additional, but discounted, monthly fee.

Showtime will be the first premium service offered to Hulu's subscribers base of nearly 9 million customers. Hulu will make the service available for purchase ahead of the July 12 premieres of the hit series Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex. The Showtime streaming option can be added for $8.99 per month, in addition to the $7.99 monthly Hulu subscription cost. The regular cost for the Showtime stand-alone service is $10.99 per month.

“We’re excited to be the first premium service available to Hulu’s growing subscriber base and look forward to offering their customers our award-winning original programming, films and documentaries across almost every device,” said Matthew C. Blank, the chairman and CEO of Showtime Networks. “Hulu is an important launch partner for Showtime as we continue to expand our service across new platforms and distributors, reaching new consumers wherever a broadband connection is available.”

"We are always looking to give our subscribers access to the best content available,” said Mike Hopkins, the CEO of Hulu. “The robust slate of Showtime original programming, movies and specials together with Hulu’s strength in current season programming, library acquisitions and original programming makes a powerful combination.”
