HISTORY Summer Slate Includes Alexander Hamilton, DB Cooper Specials

NEW YORK: HISTORY has put in place a lineup of original programming for the summer that includes the docudrama Barbarians Rising, the scripted series SIX and the doc DB Cooper.

The epic miniseries Roots debuts on May 30 for an eight-part run. June 6 will see the premiere of the 4×2-hour Barbarians Rising, which tells the story of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire from the perspective of the barbarian leaders who brought it down. The new scripted series SIX, about the Navy SEAL Team Six, debuts in its first season on July 18.

New specials coming to the network include a two-hour documentary tentatively titled Alexander Hamilton, debuting June 26. The DB Cooper doc premieres July 10. Coming August 8, The Rise and Fall of El Chapo will spotlight the man behind the myth.

In the way of series, Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour, featuring Ozzy Osbourne and his son Jack, is a new 10×1-hour show launching on July 27. Counting Cars returns with new episodes on July 5. Big Easy Motors makes its series premiere on July 15, while season two of Forged in Fire launches August 23.
