NEW YORK: The comedian Hannibal Buress has inked a multiplatform development deal with Comedy Central, in a wide-ranging pact that sees, among other things, the creation of an original one-hour stand-up special.

The agreement also includes Buress’s recurring role on the unscripted series Broad City, a commitment for a pilot that he will executive produce and an original stand-up special—all produced by 3 Arts. Also part of the pact is his participation in the nationwide Comedy Central Live stand-up tour.

“Hannibal Buress has one of the great names in comedy,” said Kent Alterman, the president of content development and original programming at Comedy Central. “I pray he doesn’t change it.”

“This is really exciting,” added Buress. “I can finally quit my day job at Quiznos. People talk down about the Illuminati a lot but this is proof that membership has its benefits.”
