NEW YORK: Cedar Cove, an original series from Hallmark Channel, is slated to begin production in Vancouver.

Inspired by the book series from Debbie Macomber, Cedar Cove, starring Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings & a Funeral) and Dylan Neal (Blood Ties), will revolve around the life of a judge and her developing romance with a newspaper editor.

Carl Binder, known for his contributions to such hits as SGU Stargate Universe and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, will serve as showrunner.

Hallmark Channel is scheduled to air a two-hour preview of Cedar Cove on Saturday, January 19 at 9 p.m. The show will premiere in early spring as the network’s first prime-time series.

"If ever there was a recipe for series success, Cedar Cove is it," said Michelle Vicary, the executive VP of programming for Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel.

She continued, "Start with internationally-acclaimed actor Andie MacDowell, add seasoned co-star Dylan Neal, Debbie Macomber’s bestselling stories, the consistency of a world-class show runner, and one of the most successful producing teams in television, and you’ll see why we think the outcome will be irresistible—Cedar Cove will be the place we all want to call home."
