Gold Rush Star & Creator Sets Up Production Venture

LOS ANGELES: Todd Hoffman, the star and creator of Discovery Channel’s Gold Rush, has formed a new production outfit, Gold Standard Television.

The independent production and finance company will be based out of Los Angeles, with an aim to create three to four scripted and unscripted shows per year for multiple platforms. The first project to be produced under this new venture will be Prodigal, based on Todd Hoffman’s original story and developed in collaboration with author and screenwriter Nathan Edmondson.

Hoffman has teamed up television executive and producer Jose Behar (Leverage, The Librarians) to ignite scripted development at the company.

Hoffman commented: “After creating Gold Rush and spending thousands of hours on crafting entertaining and inspiring stories, as well as unforgettable characters on television, we are excited to launch Gold Standard TV to produce projects with the same worldwide appeal. As we launch the label with our scripted property Prodigal, and the various pilots in our non-scripted slate, I am honored to be working alongside Jose Behar on building our company and taking these awesome projects to the marketplace.”

Behar added: “I am thrilled to be joining the Hoffman crew on this new venture. Todd’s vision and passion for producing top-quality, highly entertaining and inspiring stories is not only infectious, but has proven to be great formula for success. I am looking forward to assembling our team as we develop, finance and produce the highest quality programming and partner with the most respected networks and platforms in the industry.”
