Gina Gershon to Portray Donatella Versace in Lifetime Movie

LOS ANGELES: Lifetime’s new original movie The House of Versace, which premieres October 5, sees Gina Gershon taking on the lead role as Donatella Versace in a story that chronicles the designer’s triumph in the fashion world.

The movie is based on Wall Street Journal report Deborah Ball’s book House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival. It brings to light the story of Donatella, who after the murder of her broth, the world-renowned designer Gianni Versace, took over as head designer of his fashion empire.

The cast also includes Golden Globe Award-winner Raquel Welch (The Three Musketeers, Legally Blonde), Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars, Just Shoot Me) and Colm Feore (The Chronicles of Riddick, Thor).

After the movies 8 p.m. premiere, Lifetime is set to air the hour-long doc Versace: Beyond the Headlines at 10 p.m. the documentary provides an in-depth look at Gianni Versace’s start in the business, his rise in the industry and the multi-million dollar fashion empire that lives on today after his death.
