Game of Thrones, Homeland, House of Cards Lead SAG TV Nominations

LOS ANGELES: The nominees for the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards have been announced, with returning hits, including Game of Thrones, Homeland and House of Cards, leading in TV categories.

Netflix leads for nominations by network for TV programs, with eight. HBO followed with six, then Showtime (5), AMC (4) and ABC, CBS, Lifetime and PBS each received three.

Game of Thrones, House of Cards and Homeland had the most nominations on the TV side, with three each. They are all up for the best ensemble in a drama series award, competing against Downton Abbey and Mad Men. Also in drama, male performance nominees are Game of Thrones‘ Peter Dinklage, Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm, Better Call Saul‘s Bob Odenkirk, House of CardsKevin Spacey and Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek. Female nominees for outstanding performance in a drama series are Claire Danes, (Homeland), Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).

The casts of The Big Bang Theory, Key & Peele, Modern Family, Orange Is the New Black, Transparent and Veep are up for the win for best ensemble in a comedy series. Individual performance nods went to Ty Burrell (Modern Family), Louis C.K. (Louie), William H. Macy (Shameless), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent) in the actor category and Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) and Amy Poehler (Parks & Recreation) for best actress.

In the miniseries/TV movie arena, the best actor nominees are Luther‘s Idris Elba, Tut‘s Ben Kingsley, Texas Rising‘s Ray Liotta, A Very Murray Christmas‘s Bill Murray and Wolf Hall‘s Mark Rylance. The actress nominees are Nicole Kidman (Grace of Monaco), Queen Latifah (Bessie), Christina Ricci (The Lizzie Borden Chronicles), Susan Sarandon (The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe) and Kristen Wiig (The Spoils Before Dying).

The shows that received nominations for stunt ensemble in a comedy or drama series are The Blacklist, Game of Thrones, Homeland, Marvel’s Daredevil and The Walking Dead.

The awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on January 30, 2016 at 8 p.m.
