FX Renews The Strain, Greenlights Louis C.K.’s Better Things

LOS ANGELES: FX has ordered a third season of the thriller The Strain, as well as season one of Louis C.K.’s comedy Better Things.

Season three of The Strain, from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse, will premiere next summer. The series is based on the best-selling trilogy by del Toro and Chuck Hogan. The second season currently airs on FX on Sundays at 10 p.m.

"Guillermo and Carlton have delivered two thrilling seasons of The Strain that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fans' high expectations in the process," said Eric Schrier, co-president of original programming at FX Networks and FX Productions. "We're excited to see them carry this powerful story into a third season on FX."

The ten-episode first season of Better Things, co-created by C.K. and Pamela Adlon, centers on Sam, a single mother of three daughters who tries to balance her professional, family and social life. Adlon is executive producing alongside C.K., Blair Breard, Dave Becky and 3 Arts Entertainment. Season one will be produced by C.K.'s production company Pig Newton for FX Productions.

Schrier added: "Pamela is one of the sharpest and most endearing actresses working in television today and we are thrilled she has joined forces with Louis to create a series that is raw, personal and incredibly funny."

Adlon commented: "I'm incredibly grateful to John Landgraf and all the folks at FX, and excited to work with them to explore the real and funny truths of being a single working mom.”
