BURBANK: Seeking to expand its music capabilities, FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) has appointed Daryl Berg to the newly created role of VP and head of music.

Under Berg’s leadership, the company’s new music division will be responsible for overseeing all of FMNA’s music-related lines of business, including music publishing and licensing of FMNA’s extensive music library, with a focus on expansion of content and distribution. The group will also work with FMNA’s development teams on new music-focused television and digital projects and opportunities.

Before joining FMNA, Berg launched Sound Canyon, a company specializing in music supervision and licensing, music publishing management and creative development. He also served as the VP of music for Shine America, where he was responsible for the company’s music strategy, expanding their music portfolio and helping to develop music-based television productions.

“Music is central to all of our creative output at FremantleMedia North America, and I am pleased to have Daryl join us and lead our efforts in this area,” said Lee Rierson, the COO of FremantleMedia North America. “His expertise and entrepreneurial energy will be essential as he leads our creative and monetization strategies around music.”

“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to join the FremantleMedia team,” Berg commented. “The creative and progressive atmosphere at FMNA makes it the ideal place to launch a very promising future for music at the company.”
