LOS ANGELES: Next summer, FOX is slated to premiere a new hour-long series in which each episode will feature four short-form sitcoms created by established stars as well as up-and-coming talent.

"We are basically ripping open the traditional scripted comedy development process," said Kevin Reilly, the president of entertainment, of The Short-Com Comedy Hour. "Our end goal is to provide distinct comedy voices with a world-class platform to experiment, grow and perfect their ideas and to hopefully build them into mainstream comedy hits in the future. We’re looking forward to seeing what the untapped comedy community has to offer."

Launching summer 2013, the show’s short-coms will be developed by talent from the world of stand-up comedy. FOX says it will "facilitate a creatively open environment for comedy talent to hone their voices and material within the context of their self-produced short-coms." The most "fully realized" scripted vignettes will commissioned by FOX to series as the network works to build out its portfolio of multi-camera comedies.
