FOX Reveals Return of 24, New Comedies, Dramas & More

NEW YORK: Joining FOX’s 2013-14 schedule are five new comedies, four new dramas, an event series and new unscripted and animated programs, coming alongside news that the network is bringing back 24 for a 12-episode arc.

The network’s Tuesday night comedy block will feature Dads, a live-action comedy from Seth MacFarlane, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a workplace comedy starring Saturday Night Live‘s Andy Samberg. FOX also announced the new comedy Enlisted, about an older sibling who returns home to reconnect with his two brothers and lead a group on an Army base.

Dramas on the fall schedule are Sleepy Hollow, a modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic, and Almost Human, from J.J. Abrams.

Continuing its successful relationship with Gordon Ramsay, the network has lined up Junior MasterChef (w.t.), which features kids taking part in the famed culinary competition.

The midseason roster includes the dramas Rake, starring Greg Kinnear, and Gang Related, starring Ramon Rodriguez as a rising star in Los Angeles’s Gang Task Force. Comedies on the midseason schedule are Surviving Jack, set in 1990s Southern California; Us & Them, based on a BBC series; and Murder Police, an animated show from Family Guy‘s David Goodman.

FOX has also scheduled its first event series, Wayward Pines, coming to the network in 2014. M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs) brings to life this adaptation of the Blake Crouch novel Pines.

The network confirmed its plans to bring back Kiefer Sutherland in the role of Jack Bauer for a limited run of 24. The show is set for 12 new episodes that will roll out in May 2014.

New Girl has been given the much-coveted post-Super Bowl slot next year for its return. Also returning to FOX are American Dad, American Idol, Bob’s Burgers, Bones, Family Guy, The Following, Glee, Hell’s Kitchen and Hotel Hell. The network is also bringing back Kitchen Nightmares, MasterChef, The Mindy Project, Raising Hope, The Simpsons, So You Think You Can Dance and The X Factor. The schedule also sees the network airing the American Country Awards, New Year’s Eve Live and Teen Choice Awards.

“This season, we will strategically launch five inventive live-action comedies, four distinctive dramas, our first-ever event series, as well as some innovative new digital initiatives, across the week and throughout the year,” said Kevin Reilly, the chairman of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company. “We’re making the biggest investment in original programming in our history to ensure that FOX continues to engage viewers and move the culture more than any other entertainment brand.”
