NEW YORK: Paramount Network has lined up a slate of original and returning programs for its launch in 2018, including Lip Sync Battle, which has been renewed for a fourth season.

Spike will rebrand as Paramount Network in January 2018. Among the programming highlights on the rebranded channel will be Lip Sync Battle, which has been renewed for a fourth season. The 18-episode season will launch in January with a special star-studded live episode from the Paramount lot. Season three of Lip Sync Battle is currently in production, with new episodes set to debut on Spike on Thursday, April 20, at 10 p.m.

Among the original shows debuting on Paramount Network during the first three months of 2018 is American Woman, starring Alicia Silverstone and Mena Suvari. Inspired by the upbringing of co-executive producer Kyle Richards (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), the show follows Bonnie, an unconventional mother who struggles to raise two daughters after leaving her husband in the 1970s. Another highlight will be the six-part event series Waco, which chronicles the 51-day siege involving the FBI, AFT and David Koresh’s spiritual sect, The Branch Davidian, nearly 25 years later.

Paramount Network’s schedule will also feature Heathers, based on the 1988 cult classic film of the same name. The hour-long black comedy anthology set in the present day follows Veronica Sawyer as she deals with a vicious group of “Heathers.” Also on the agenda is I Am Martin Luther King Jr, the latest installment in the I Am series from filmmaker Derik Murray. The two-hour documentary celebrates the life and achievements of the civil rights leader.

Alongside Lip Sync Battle, other returning shows that will be part of Paramount Network’s lineup include Ink Master, Bar Rescue and Bellator MMA content. Each of these titles will premiere new seasons in the first quarter of 2018.

“Our mission is to establish Paramount Network as a prime destination for premium storytelling,” said Kevin Kay, the president of Paramount Network (Spike), TV Land and CMT. “From Alicia Silverstone as a trailblazing independent working mother in the 1970s to Michael Shannon as an FBI negotiator during the Branch Davidians dramatic standoff and siege, Paramount Network will be the home to compelling stories, unforgettable characters and high-quality production with a distinctive global appeal.”

Kay continues, “Lip Sync Battle has evolved into a premium global franchise with nearly a billion platform views in less than two years. With our amazing hosts, incredible participating talent, and creative and forward-thinking producers, Lip Sync Battle will be a cornerstone franchise for the rebranded Paramount Network launching next January.”

“The entire Lip Sync Battle family is so honored and over the moon to have a home on the new Paramount Network,” added the show’s executive producer, Casey Patterson. “We’re already planning our live season four Synctacular Event on the fabled Paramount backlot. They may never be the same!”
