Ex-Discovery COO Joins Carlyle Group

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Private-equity firm The Carlyle Group has tapped Peter Liguiori, most recently the COO of Discovery Communications, as a consultant for its telecoms and media group.

Based in New York, Liguori has joined the firm as an operating executive for the telecommunications and media team, providing guidance on investment opportunities and exit strategies. He will also consult on management, operational and growth strategies. Liguori was COO of Discovery from 2009 to 2011. He previously spent several years at FOX and FX.

“Peter is a seasoned executive who has run several important media businesses and understands how to create value," said James Attwood, Carlyle’s managing director and head of the telecommunications and media team.

Liguori added, “I am excited to work with Jim and his team given their record of value creation and deep knowledge of media and entertainment. I believe this is a good time to invest in the media sector.”
