ESPN International to Present UEFA Championships in the Caribbean

NEW YORK: ESPN International has picked up distribution in the Caribbean for the UEFA European Football Championship 2012 and 2016.

The rights are part of ESPN’s broad agreement with the UEFA for the European Football Championships until 2017. The 2012 tournament will air on ESPN Caribbean and ESPN2 Caribbean networks and on ESPNPlay, the recently launched broadband player int he region. Coverage for all 31 games runs from June 8 to July 1. ESPN International will present all 51 matches in the Caribbean of the UEFA European Football Championship 2016.

“The continuation of ESPN’s relationship with UEFA confirms ESPN’s place as the home of highest quality soccer programming,” said Michael Walters, the VP of international programming. “UEFA is part of ESPN’s lineup of premier soccer properties from around the world presented to our viewers in the Caribbean, including the Premier League in England, La Liga in Spain, German Bundesliga, and Brazil’s National and Paulista championships.”
