LOS ANGELES: Entertainment One (eOne) has aligned with Steve Lanning and Philip Hobbs to develop and produce two projects from filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, Downslope and God Fearing Man.

Downslope was written by Kubrick and is based on a true story by Civil War historian Shelby Foote. The Civil War drama follows the activities of a Confederate Army Colonel and his plot to settle the score after General Custer captures several of his men.

God Fearing Man is based on a screenplay by Kubrick and is adapted for TV by British screenwriter Stephen Clarke. It tells the true story of Canadian minister Herbert Emerson Wilson, who became one of the most successful bank robbers in America in the early 20th century.

The projects are being produced by eOne in association with Philco Films’ Steve Lanning and Philip Hobbs, who worked closely with Kubrick for more than 15 years. eOne will handle the worldwide rights for both projects.

“We’re excited to be able to bring these extraordinary works to life on the small screen and to be joining forces with Philip and Steve who bring a wealth of experience and personal connection to the projects,” said Michael Rosenberg, eOne Television’s executive VP of U.S. scripted television. “We’re certain audiences and fans will hold a high level of expectation which we plan to deliver. This is real event television.”
