eOne Developing Series Based on Manga Title

LOS ANGELES/TORONTO: Entertainment One (eOne) has scored the rights to develop a show based on the Japanese manga Black Jack, from creator Osamu Tezuka, who is also behind Astro Boy.

Black Jack has sold more than 50 million copies in Japan and has been translated in a slew of countries around the world. The action-adventure story follows the journey of a detective and doctor who is a bit unorthodox and whose practices are somewhat questionable. eOne will produce the show, with Taka Ichise and Doug Davison as executive producers. Ichise and Davison previously partnered on feature adaptations of the Japanese properties The Ring and The Grudge.
