Empire Wins Program of the Year at TCA Awards

BEVERLY HILLS: The Television Critics Association's (TCA) annual awards saw Empire beating out The Americans, Game of Thrones, Mad Men and Transparent for the honor of program of the year.

The Americans did win for outstanding achievement in drama, while Inside Amy Schumer won that award in the comedy category. Better Call Saul was honored with the award for outstanding new program.

Individual achievement in comedy went to Amy Schumer for Inside Amy Schumer. Jon Hamm won for his individual achievement in drama for Mad Men.

HBO's The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst was recognized in the category of movies, miniseries and specials. The Chair was awarded by the TCA for its achievements in reality programming. In the youth programming arena, The Fosters scored a win for the second year in a row. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver won for outstanding achievement in news and information.

This year's heritage award, which honors a program for its cultural and social impact, was presented to Late Show/Late Night with David Letterman. James L. Brooks, whose credits include The Simpsons and Taxi, was honored with the Career Achievement Award.
