LAS VEGAS: DISH has unveiled a new app for its Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR, which features the hotly debated ad-skipping function, that allows users to transfer saved TV programs to the iPad to watch on the go.

The Hopper Transfers app lets customers move their recorders from the DVR to an iPad for viewing without an Internet connection. Customers can set their Hopper with Sling to prep recordings for mobile viewing. The shows are then transferred from Hopper to an iPad through the home’s Wi-Fi connection. The app is available free of cost.

"Hopper Transfers completes the TV Everywhere equation by giving DISH customers the ability to take their recorded television programs and watch them even when no Internet connection is available, such as on a plane," said Vivek Khemka, the VP of product management at DISH. "For the first time, customers can truly enjoy their DISH service anytime, anywhere."
