SILVER SPRING: Discovery Communications has elevated Jhamal Robinson and Heather Sokolow to expanded production management roles.

Robinson was upped to senior VP of production management. In this position, he will oversee production management for all of Discovery’s 13 U.S. networks and will report to Marc Graboff, the president of global business and legal affairs, production management and studios group.

Previously, as VP of production management, Robinson was responsible for the production of TLC series such as 90 Day Fiancé, I Am Jazz and Tyler Perry’s Too Close to Home. Robinson joined Discovery in 2012 after serving as head of production for Yahoo! Studios and NBCUniversal’s Style Network. He is a five-time Emmy nominee.

Sokolow is stepping into the newly created role of VP of production management for Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science. She will report to Robinson. Sokolow is a 14-year production veteran, and prior to joining Discovery in 2012, she worked on a range of shows such as America’s Next Top Model, Making the Band and Destination Truth.

Both Robinson and Sokolow are based in Discovery’s Los Angeles office.

Graboff commented: “Jhamal and Heather are excellent leaders with the experience, relationships and skills necessary to continue Discovery’s unparalleled track record of the highest production quality and standards, all in partnership with the production community.”
