Discovery Communications Combines Global L&M Businesses

NEW YORK: As of this month, Discovery Communications is consolidating its worldwide licensing and merchandising businesses into one comprehensive global division called Discovery Consumer Products.

Discovery Consumer Products will offer the opportunity for shared ideas, content and product, while also providing licensees and retailers with a one-stop international footprint. The unit, which will concentrate on men, kids' and the network franchises, will continue to develop products and services that uphold the company's standards. It will also keep on fulfilling the demands of each region, including merchandise inspired by Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and TLC.

Nicolas Bonard has been appointed to lead Discovery Consumer Products. He has spent the last four years overseeing Discovery Enterprises International.
