Discovery Channel Hires Nick Gilhool as VP of Casting

LOS ANGELES: Veteran TV executive Nick Gilhool is joining Discovery Channel as its VP of casting.

The hire will be effective April 6. Working out of Los Angeles, Gilhool will report to Denise Contis, the executive VP of production and development for Discovery. The exec will be responsible for all aspects of the casting process for Discovery Channel specials and series programming, as well as corporate and network presentation.

Gilhool previously worked at Brownstone Entertainment, where he oversaw development for series sold to ABC, Oxygen, TLC and LMN, as well as projects set up at Bravo, Lifetime, MTV, Discovery ID, VH1, FYI and E!. Prior to that, he served as senior VP of casting at Magical Elves.

“Nick has a keen eye for talent and an innate understanding of storytelling,” said Contis. “His vast experience and success in both casting and development will be invaluable, and we’re thrilled to have him join our team.”
