CBS Unveils Second-Screen iPad App

SAN FRANCISCO: CBS Connect, an iPad app that gives users access to real-time social conversation and synched second-screen features, is now available in the iTunes App Store.

Similar to the CBS Connect social hub on CBS.com, the CBS Connect app includes Twitter and Facebook conversations for a number of CBS shows that are broadcast during daytime, prime-time and late-night slots. Fans are able to converse with other viewers as well as with the stars of some CBS series.

Synched second-screen experiences will be offered for such dramas as NCIS: Los Angeles, Hawaii Five-0 and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. App-enabled episodes of these shows will begin airing on January 8, January 14 and January 16, respectively. More titles will be added throughout the year. Among others things, second-screen features will include behind-the-scenes footage, set spotlights and character backstories.

"We’ve seen a tremendous response to CBS.com’s CBS Connect social hub and our recently launched NCIS: Los Angeles Connect app," said Marc DeBevoise, the executive VP and general manager of CBS Interactive. "Seeing fans embrace the second screen in this way has further validated our multiplatform strategy and we’re excited to bring fans one app that sits across CBS programming where they can engage in discussion, connect with their favorite CBS stars and talent, and dive deeper into each and every episode of the shows they love."
