CBS Sues ABC Over New Reality Show

LOS ANGELES: CBS has filed a federal lawsuit against ABC to halt an upcoming reality show, Glass House, which it says is too similar to the long-running series Big Brother.

CBS filed the suit yesterday in the Federal District Court in Los Angeles. The network is seeking a number of actions against ABC, its affiliate stations and the producers of Glass House. Ultimately, CBS wants the court to keep the show from going forward. CBS is arguing that the ABC series violates copyrights. The lawsuit also names two top Glass House producers and an ABC programming exec who worked on Big Brother, claiming that they are violating non-disclosure agreements and giving away secrets of the show.

ABC fired back in a statement that read: “The differences between Glass House and Big Brother are both fundamental and obvious, ranging from Glass House’s interactive elements and audience participation to its deployment of cutting-edge technologies.”
