Bridesmaids Ranks Number One on VOD

LOS ANGELES: Universal Pictures’ 2011 film Bridesmaids is the number one most-ordered VOD title ever, with more than 4.8 million rentals in four months of release.

The R-rated female comedy starring Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) will be available on VOD until February 29 and has grossed more than $24 million on VOD to date. It brought in more than $288 million at the worldwide box office during its theatrical run and more than $100 million in Blu-ray and DVD sales in the U.S. The film garnered Academy Award nominations for Annie Mumolo and Wiig in the original screenplay category and Melissa McCarthy for best actress in a supporting role.
