Breaking Bad, OITNB Triumph at TV Critics Awards

LOS ANGELES: The Television Critics Association (TCA) named AMC's Breaking Bad as program of the year at its annual awards over the weekend, while Netflix's Orange Is the New Black (OITNB) was celebrated as the outstanding new program.

Winners for the 30th Annual TCA Awards were selected by the association's members, comprising 200-plus professional TV critics and journalists from the U.S. and Canada.

Outstanding achievement in movies, miniseries and specials went to HBO's True Detective. CBS's The Good Wife was honored for outstanding achievement in drama. In the comedy category, it was a tie between HBO's Veep and FX's Louie. In the news and informational category, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey triumphed. Outstanding achievement in reality went to Logo's RuPaul’s Drag Race. ABC Family's The Fosters took outstanding achievement in youth programming.

For individual achievements, awards went to Matthew McConaughey for drama and Julia Louis-Dreyfus for comedy. A career achievement award was given to James Burrows and the Heritage Award went to Saturday Night Live.
