LOS ANGELES: BoPaul Media Worldwide, which is making its debut appearance at MIPCOM, is planning to upconvert selected classic films from its 1,000-title library into HD.

The company recently sold the upconverted HD version of Human Beast, from its Paul Naschy horror catalogue, to Medallion Media in Japan. Also included in the sale was Hunchback of the Morgue, which is getting unconverted later this year.

Other titles that will be upgraded to HD include Victory Films’ Wild Geese, Zulu Dawn and Ashanti. Eight other Paul Naschy titles will be turned into HD as well, including Horror Rises from the Tomb, Exorcism and Vengeance of the Zombies

From BoPaul’s own catalogue, Hellraiser IV: Bloodline is getting the HD treatment. Also set for HD are Arrow Films’ Mrs. Caldicott’s Cabbage War and Jose Frade’s Blood and Sand

“With the dramatic rise of HD channels and Blu-ray video distribution around the world, it is clear that the value of our library is substantially enhanced with the conversion to HD 1080p format,” said Paul Rich, co-founding CEO of BMW.
