Berlinale Spotlight: MarVista Entertainment

BERLIN: MarVista Entertainment has been a Berlinale participant since 2007 and returns this year with a slate of new highlights that includes the horror film Most Likely to Die, indie drama Consumed and creature feature Terrordactyl.

“There’s a great deal of opportunity at Berlinale,” says Vanessa Shapiro, the executive VP of global distribution at MarVista Entertainment. “You want to make sure your films demonstrate the breadth of your production capabilities, so that buyers will want to screen more than just one film, potential co-production partners will fully understand what talents and skillsets we bring to the table, and so financiers can recognize our viability as a strong investment.”

In total, MarVista will be presenting a portfolio of 13 movies across all genres at Berlinale. “For Berlinale we looked to assemble a robust slate of films that we believe best represent the scope and diversity of MarVista Entertainment’s original productions, as well as the type of content we typically acquire,” Shapiro says.
