BBC Worldwide America Sells Sinbad to Syfy

NEW YORK: Syfy has acquired the rights to Sinbad, BBC Worldwide America’s successful adventure fantasy series, scheduled to begin airing this spring.

The 12-part series, starring Elliot Knight and Naveen Andrews (Lost), follows Sinbad’s journey on the sea after he is obligated to leave home. Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda), Timothy Spall (Harry Potter) and Dougray Scott (Hitman) will also appear on the show, which is set to debut in April 2013.

Sinbad is produced for British Sky Broadcasting by Impossible Pictures Production in association with BBC Worldwide.

Chris Regina, the senior VP of programming and original movies for Syfy, said: "When mystical meets muscle, anything can happen in this exciting, action-packed series. With its strong production values and rich story, Sinbad will be a terrific addition to our primetime lineup."
