LOS ANGELES: Armando Nuñez has been appointed as president and CEO of CBS Global Distribution Group, which combines the company’s domestic and international television distribution businesses.

In the newly created role, Nuñez will manage both CBS Television Distribution and CBS Studios International. The former syndicates first-run and off-network programming, while the latter licenses CBS content in more than 200 markets around the world.

Nuñez has more than two decades of experience in international distribution. Since 2004 he has been president of international television distribution for CBS Studios International, where he helped yearly revenues increase to more than $1 billion. He takes on the new position following John Nogawski’s stepping down as the president of CBS Television Distribution.

"We have great leaders around our company and Armando has always been one of the best-admired and respected by clients and colleagues alike," said Leslie Moonves, the president and CEO of CBS Corporation. "He has led our international group to great heights, increasing revenue around the world with new distribution windows and new channel ventures that complement our traditional licensing business. With this newly created position, we have one of the industry’s best global thinkers maximizing the value for our current hits and vast library to the growing number of content licensors here in the U.S. and around the world."

"Our business is increasingly looking at program distribution and content value through a global lens," added Nuñez. "From hit network shows to syndication franchises to a deep and diverse library, no one has bigger and better content than CBS. I look forward to continuing to work with Leslie and the terrific domestic and international teams to take full strategic advantage of the traditional, new and emerging distribution opportunities available to us everywhere."
