SEATTLE: Open Road Films, a U.S. film distribution company, has secured a multiyear content licensing deal with Amazon, making Prime the exclusive non-cable premium subscription home for the company’s theatrical releases.

The deal covers theatrical releases starting with Open Road Films’ 2016 slate. Beginning in 2017, Amazon Prime members will have access to the films via the Amazon Instant Video app for TVs, connected devices and mobile devices, as well as online on Amazon’s website.

Among the Open Road Films titles heading to Prime before any other non-cable subscription service in the U.S. are the comedy Fifty Shades of Black, the action-thriller Triple 9 and the romantic-comedy Mother’s Day, starring Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis.
