Aereo Continues to Expand Across the U.S.

LONG ISLAND CITY: The cloud-based DVR service Aereo is launching in three new U.S. markets next month: Miami, Houston and Dallas.

The launch date for Miami is September 2, delivering access to more than 5 million South Floridians. The Houston launch follows on September 16, rolling out to more than 5.6 million consumers in the Greater Houston area. On September 23, the service reaches Dallas, reaching more than 6.7 million residents in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex region.

Aereo previously announced launches planned for Utah on August 19 and Chicago on September 13. The controversial service, which uses cloud-based antenna/DVR technology to allow customers to stream over-the-air TV channels, debuted in New York, and a slew of lawsuits followed. It has since expanded to Boston and Atlanta metropolitan areas.
